excited when I came across this collaboration!
The pieces are beautiful & comfy & very
reasonably priced! Check it out!
Currently I've purchased two items...

Bikes Bars & Betties Behind the Scenes

In September I participated in
& assisted with a calendar photo shoot
called Bikes Bars & Betties.
The concept was developed by a
friend of mine who is highly involved
in the Dallas bicycling community & realized
how many of his friends who ride bikes are also
frequenters of the downtown Dallas pubs
& friends with so many of the servers & bartenders
who work at the pubs. There is definitely
a strong tie between the bicycle, artist, & bar community.
When I did this shoot I was surprised at how many of us all
knew one another.

The concept was pretty simple- to cast many of the women
involved in this close knit community
in classic vintage pinup & have them pose with
their bicycles at the downtown Dallas pubs
for a calendar.

Here is a selection of a few of the
photos from that day.
I was cast as October.

Tee Shirt Win

This might be the softest tee shirt
I've ever owned,
as documented by the fact that I've
worn it every single day since I bought it.
Sure - it's not baseball season & I'm not
in the movie Dazed & Confused, but who cares.

New Peas for the New Year

Happy 2012!
To ring in the New Year I made some Good Luck
Black Eyed Peas.
I simply got ingredients that
sounded good at the time for this recipe.
Thankfully the recipe worked!

4 cans of black eyed peas
1/2 jar of pickled jalapenos
(However much spicy you can handle can be your gauge)
3/4 cup cilantro
1/2 lb. Boar's Head honey cured ham
cayenne pepper
cracked black pepper

* Loosely chop or pull apart the cilantro.
I friggin' love cilantro so I could probably use the whole
bunch & be content

* Chop the ham to desired size

* Throw all ingredients into a pot & simmer on low
for 1-2 hours. The cayenne & black pepper can be used
to attain desired level of flavor, but once again I
probably use more than any normal person should. For me the more more flavor the better!

I also bought one small baguette of
a honey oat bread, sliced it & warmed it
up for about 20 seconds in the microwave
to serve with the peas.

For the beverage selection (small but workable),
I got a cheap bottle of champagne,
a bottle of Martini & Rossi Rosato (leftover),
some bourbon I'd used over the holidays for another recipe
& a couple of pears & apples.
I sliced the fruit & put it in the champagne with a splash of the Martini Rosato.

AND FINALLY after spending a whole fifteen minutes in the kitchen
I had some time to throw on a little party dress
(an Anna Sui for Anthropologie dress I've had for about 5 years).
We ate our peas, drank our champagne
& still had enough time to walk to my
favorite tiny Irish pub 2 streets from my house to
ring in 2012!
Short- Sweet - & Simple!
Cheers!!
